In Ancient Egypt, the demand for this and black pepper helped to drive the spice trade and therefore exploration of the world.Cinnamon is native to India and Sri Lanka and comes from the inner bark of a tropical, evergreen species of the Laurel family. It is different to cassia or Chinese cinnamon. The familiar quills are prepared from bark, stripped from the tree’s shoots.
