Fire tree or Xanthorrhoea preissii, is a plant from the southwest of Australia. It has been known for centuries by the Aboriginal Noongar people of western Australia for its many uses including as being a source of food and building materials.
The plant is a symbol of fertility and re-growth because of its ability to resist and recover after a fire, the flowering of the plant even being stimulated by these events.
