INGREDIENT
Fresh Kumquat
There are several types of kumquat, but we use the marumi kumquat (Fortunella japonica), a native of Japan that grows on evergreen trees up to 12 feet tall. The fruit is roughly 2-3cm in diameter, orange-to-yellow in colour and cultivated across Europe.
Description
Our kumquats come from Italy.
The name kumquat is derived from the Chinese kam kwat, meaning golden orange.
Kumquats are rich in calcium, vitamins, and especially vitamin C, which has antioxidant properties.
These fruits are often used as jams, pickles and preserves.
We chop the fruit up, emulsify it and strain it before adding the fresh juice to our products.
Kumquat has been used as a folk remedy for wound healing, and to build immunity.
