Refreshing and brightening
Citrus limonum is a thorny, evergreen tree with irregular branches bearing glistening, oval leaves. Its flowers are white and pink-tinged and strongly perfumed, which become the lemon fruit.
Description
We make an infusion from fresh lemons by adding boiled water. This is strained and cooled, then added to our handmade products.
The juice is a source of citric acid and bursting with vitamin C (ascorbic acid). Pectin is isolated from the inner lemon peel and is used in food, cosmetics and medicines.
Lemon juice is a source of vitamin C, vitamins B1 and B2, and niacin, and is a powerful antioxidant. Applied topically, the juice is an exfoliant and can brighten skin.
We use lemon infusion in our None of Your Beeswax lip balm to brighten and refresh the lips when applied topically.
