Papaya (Carica Papaya) is native to South American evergreen with a branchless trunk that grows in lowland tropical forests. Our papayas usually come from Indonesia. The fruits of the tree approximately 18 inches long, pear-shaped and have leathery skin. The pulp is a vibrant orange colour and has many round black seeds in its cavity.
Description
The fruit is highly nutritious, containing vitamins A, B, and C, and potassium, calcium, phosphorus and iron; it also contains malic and pyruvic acids, two potent alpha hydroxy acids, and the enzyme papain.In natural medicine, papaya is used topically for deep or slow healing wounds. It is also thought to help reduce scarring. This powerful fruit is rich in antioxidants and helps protect the skin from free radicals, it has restorative and rejuvenating properties particularly on older or tired skin.We prepare the papaya for our products first by scraping out the seeds, chopping off the stem and then we blend in the whole fruit.We use papaya as it’s full of enzymes to strip away dead skin, leaving it cleansed and brightened. We mix it with fresh juices, to strip the hair of excess oil and dirt, adding nourishment and incredible shine.
