Patchouli is a bushy herb, belonging to the mint family. Patchouli is widely used in perfumery today as it has a distinctive, earthy aroma. It's also used in aromatherapy for its relaxing and antiviral properties.
Description
We use patchouli powder for its relaxing, uplifting effect on the mind. In a natural powder deodorant it has an antibacterial, cooling and drying effect on the skin. It is also very kind to irritated skin.
Though native to tropical parts of Asia, it is now cultivated elsewhere including Indonesia, China and the Philippines. Our patchouli is sourced from Indonesia and India. The patchouli plant can grow up to about three feet tall and has long stems with purple or white flowers. The harvested crop is then dried, and broken up into a powder whilst also sieving out any impurities.
When making The Guv’ner, patchouli powder must be hand sieved into the mixer to ensure a smooth texture when applying the powder onto the skin.
