INGREDIENT
Sweet Violet Extract
Softening and cooling
Native to Europe and parts of Asia, Viola odorata is a hardy perennial with broad, heart-shaped leaves and small, fragrant flowers. It thrives in damp woodlands and other shady places.
Description
It's popular as an ornamental plant around the world and commercially cultivated in France, Italy, China and Egypt. The Celts used sweet violet blended with milk as a complexion-enhancing wash. Herbalists through the ages have attributed a number of benefits to the plant: it's been used for coughs, colds, dizziness, insomnia and nervous exhaustion. It is known as a cooling, cleansing, and antiseptic herb.
The leaves are collected during the flowering season and used fresh or dried for use in infusions, and liquid extracts. Violet leaf absolute is a popular green leaf note in perfumery. In aromatherapy, the oil is used for skin problems. We freshly prepare leaves of the Viola odorata plant in olive oil to make our sweet violet extract.
