Antiseptic and aromatic, thyme is believed to have many benefits, not only because it helps to stimulate hair growth by improving blood flow to the scalp.
Thyme is a small, evergreen herb that grows low to the ground, bearing flowers that can range from white to purple. Whole plants and flowering tops are harvested as flowering commences. They are used fresh, distilled for oil or dried for elixirs, extracts and infusions. Thyme is excellent for thriving ecosystems as it attracts bees.
Around 40% of the plant's essential oil is thymol, a powerful antiseptic, aromatic and deodorant component. For this reason it is excellent in foot lotions, deodorants, soaps, and shower gels to keep microflora (good bacteria) under control, as well as banish the bacteria, yeasts and molds that we don’t want.
