The rosewood tree (Aniba rosaeodora) is native to Amazonia and Guyana. Its rose tinted and fragrant wood has been overexploited in the last few decades to make furniture and essential oils, leaving this rare plant endangered. This is why the oil is now very hard to purchase as harvests are highly controlled to protect the tree's future.
